Austin is the capital of the US state of Texas. It is situated on the Colorado River. Its positioned on the Colorado River and there are many lakes in Austin and its surrounding area, including three man made lakes within the city limits.

The oddest natural attraction in the Austin area is the Congress Avenue Bridge Bat Flight. The batty season begins in March and lasts until November. The bats can be viewed nightly during the span of several months, but late July to mid August features the best views, when the young babies unite with their mothers in their nightly dinner flights. The nightlife is great and you will be spoiled for choice. On 6th Street in particular, virtually every building houses a club or a bar and many of these have become rather over commercialised. Its much better to venture just off 6th where youll find some of the best clubs, or take a cab to some of the further flung joints.
